NEIGHBORHOOD TRAINING SERIES

BUILDING LOCAL LEADERS

The City of Missoula recognizes that our democracy is enriched by the active participation of an informed citizenry. Neighborhood Councils were formed to create a grassroots citizenry and strengthen neighborhood participation in the City governance. Leaders and active members of leadership teams are charged with building opportunities for neighborhood communication, neighborhood-initiated projects, interaction and problem-solving. In order for active members and leaders to effectively engage other citizens the Neighborhood Training Series was established to help develop the skills of those involved.

At the beginning of each year the Neighborhood Training Series begins with an orientation to Neighborhood Councils. In February and March two separate skills training are given. The skills training is determined by active member and leader needs. The next training series will begin in January 2009, check back for details later.
